Being Wise is not Being Weird

People who stand up for something may not necessarily make sense for others. It all boils down to upbringing and logic. The manner of living a person does may seem unorthodox for people who are accustomed to the standard way of life. But if you look around, the success people for instance, you will find that people living differently have made successful moves as far as their lives are concerned.

We cannot force people to believe in our philosophies. To them, we seem like crazy persons. But while many would laugh or downgrade you at first, it is quite funny to think how most of them would turn around after some years, forget about the past and look up to you as if they believed you from day one. In short, standing up for something may lead to you being a “somebody” in the future and this is regardless on whether you are pertaining to career, business or stature.

Weird as it may, the best way to define this kind of philosophy is trust and proving your worth. People have their share of being famous later on in life even if others would feel that they are crazy and don’t fit in. Perhaps you don’t fit in because you are part of the elite people who are different from the normal person. But the price to pay for it is becoming ignorant of the normal society. It is choice of sticking to your principle or giving up on it because others force you to.

Stick To Your Philosophy

Each person will have his or her own share of philosophical beliefs as far as principles are concerned. Once they are exposed or find themselves with friends or peers, there will be times that they will be tempted to alter some of these principles since they want to belong. As much as possible don’t resort to that. While it is true that you may have differences with other people, it remains that you have to stick to your own principles and values. If they work for you since you started believing in them, then why change them?

This personal philosophy covers a wide area for anyone. It may entail business decisions to personal ones. While you may find the beliefs of others as effective for themselves, remember that the same may not necessarily hold true to yourself. It is all about how you approach it. Personal philosophies may vary but are really meant to be unique for anyone these days. That is simply something that has to be put in mind.

For some, doing this may go as far as affecting relationships and socialization. People will look at you in a different light which may not necessarily be favorable. This should not bother you as a person. Just because someone else disagrees or is not at all comfortable with your philosophy means that you have to change for them. Even married couples experience this. While some would change in the initial parts of their union, you will find that they eventually fall back to the known principles that they had initially been known for. Personal philosophies are simply hard to alter especially once they are inherited and gotten accustomed to.

One thing that most businessmen take note of these days is that they have to be presentable and project an image that is worthy of making clients believe in them. When you are in a business meeting and are aiming to solicit investments or provide business, you just have to dress right for the occasion. Do not wear jeans or a simple shirt. Try a semi-formal attire and perhaps you may place the meeting more relevant than what others may perceive.

This is perhaps something that has eluded some salesmen as far as closing deals these days. There are people who just don’t get it. When you are doing business, it already takes a lot to try and convince them. If people who are not dressed professionally have a hard time convincing people, then how would you even try to convince them if you put on rugged clothes?

Take for example network marketing. Obviously it is something that people (particularly in the Philippines) only believe in because of the earnings. But if there is something to blame, it would be the marketers. Just last week I was invited to a supposed business opportunity to which I was surprised it was another network marketing gimmick.

The setting was the same as usual. The product is Goji, a health product that is being distributed through network marketing. While I admire the product, it is the presentor, a yuppie at that who claims to be earning Php 200,000.00 a month.

Seriously, if you are earning that much, you could have at least worn something decent like a long-sleeved shirt or any semi-formal attire. At his age, early 20’s it takes so much to convince people to be under a young turk. While others waited since it was the profit schedule being shown, I had to excuse myself from the “scam” of sorts. The next time around, you can almost figure out networking scheme presenters just don’t dress professionally especially in the Philippines. What a waste of time!

In today’s world of rising prices, companies have adapted the economical way of trying to do business. Offering products in smaller amounts such as sachets or lesser proportions may seem brilliant but do remember that companies are only offering products in these packages to make sure that their products are still within reach of the wise-spending consumer.

The trend today is for people to go for alternative products which cost less but provide the same satisfaction. But for the branded and known companies, they would re-engineer their products as far as packaging to downsize cost. While they are catered to people who can no longer afford the normal packages, there is no guarantee that they will still be bought.

Quality is something that has taken a lopsided downturn. While the consumers hate to admit it, the reality of it all is adjustments towards the normal lifestyle. Branded consumer goods such as rice, soap, shampoo or cooking oil are no longer within their reach. So rather than go for the superior brands, turning to the competitor or class B brands seems to be feasible to fit into the consumer’s budget.

Where does this leave the grade A brands? Well for sure, they will not lower price since the proper costing needs to be addressed. They can offer alternatives for the loyal patrons but that is no guarantee that they will retain their level of competency in the market. Remember that right now, quantity is still what people are looking for. But for brand loyalists, sacrificing quantity may be an alternative but may not necessary be the solution they are looking for.

How to be a President

Being the man in charge of the most powerful nation on earth is not an easy feat indeed, it entails endless hours debating and pondering the lives and future of millions of people. Sleepless nights and making decisions, tough decisions that can make or break the country for the player it is on the global scene. Many US presidents have been criticized and scorned for their foreign and national policies but it all falls into history and who hasn’t been. Almost all politicians have somebody who hates their ways and that goes to say for most American Presidents of past. America being a melting pot of several cultures has had to politically deal with such critical issues as racism and other very volatile situations. The running of Obama for the presidency was seen by many as a step into the unknown but he began as a “likable” enough character that the American public stopped and listened.
Scandals with his church, policy and many bent words have put him under fire from the left and right but his overall indifference to the war in Iraq and other issues has begun to sway many supporters to take a second look at him and his overall policy making abilities. His opponents see him as an inexperienced lawmaker with policy suggestions that border on the insane (like his words of getting to sit down and negotiate with IRAN and other countries past presidents have considered to be terrorist supporters or just plain and simple enemies). Many do question his ability if ever he wins the elections (which would be a first as the first black president of the proud American Nation) both politically and personally to lead. He started with remarks of ending the war in Iraq which has taxed heavy on the American economy and the many lives that have been lost.
His abilities remain to be seen but he started out as a breath of fresh air but down the line has become just one of the guys, after the presidency as a political leader. Nobody knows what the elections would bring but one things for sure, the public is in need of a fresh face and a strong figure at the helm to lead them in the coming years as America reels form the effects of the troubled global economy.
